The Secretariat of the United Nations invites applications for the following positions at the level of Under-Secretary-General, the most senior management position in each department. Each department commands approximately one thousand staff with a budget of some hundreds of millions of dollars.

Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information
Manages the activities of the Department of Public Information and serves as most senior information and
communications adviser to the Secretary-General, leading the United Nations Information Centres worldwide.

Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs
Manages the activities of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs and serves as most senior economic and social
affairs adviser to the Secretary-General, including within the framework of sustainable development.

Under-Secretary-General for General Assembly and Conference Management
Manages the activities of the Department of General Assembly and Conference Management and serves as most senior representative of the Secretary-General within the process of conference management, involving United Nations Headquarters and Offices at Geneva, Vienna and Nairobi.

Under-Secretary-General for Management
Manages the activities of the Department of Management and serves as most senior representative of the Secretary-General on management matters, providing direction and advice on the development, implementation, coordination, monitoring and communication of nancial and human resources strategies, policies and programmes throughout the Secretariat.
