Grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, UN Women will work for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women's rights at the centre of all its efforts, UN Women will lead and coordinate United Nations System efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It will provide strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States' priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors. In collaboration with Capacity Development and Knowledge Management sections, Santo Domingo Training Centre will develop and implement UN Women's strategy for capacity development of national partners in key functions, as well as for UN system staff. It will develop UN system training programmes in gender equality and empowerment of women, in close partnership with UN Staff College, UNITAR, and other UN training institutions, making maximum use of on-line training techniques. The Training/Capacity Development Specialist post is based at UN Women Training Centre in Santo Domingo. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the UN Women Santo Domingo Training Coordinator and in close collaboration with the Knowledge Management section at UN Women HQ. The Training/Capacity Development Specialist will provide support towards the further development and operation of the Training Centre to meet the needs for gender training worldwide.

Implement pedagogical principles and best practices into developing training programmes and monitor their effectiveness and relevancy
Establish baselines of Gender Training
Support the establishment of the Gender Training Roster
Further develop and maintain the Gender Training Community of Practice (CoP)
Apply new technologies to the development of online courses and materials in collaboration with UN Women IT personnel and webmasters
Impact of Results: The efficient and prompt delivery of services will contribute to positioning the Training Centre as the leader on Gender Training among the UN training institutions.
