Organizational Setting |
The Department of Safeguards is the organizational hub for the implementation of IAEA safeguards. The IAEA implements nuclear verification activities for more than 170 States in accordance with their safeguards agreements. The safeguards activities are undertaken within a dynamic and technically challenging environment including advanced nuclear fuel cycle facilities and complemented by the political diversity of the countries. The Department of Safeguards consists of six Divisions: three Operations Divisions: A, B and C, for the implementation of verification activities around the world; and three Technical Divisions, (i) Division of Concepts and Planning, (ii) Division of Information Management, and (iii) Division of Technical and Scientific Services, as well as two Offices: the Office of Safeguards Analytical Services and the Office of Information and Communication Systems. The Division of Information Management (SGIM) comprises four sections and provides the Department of Safeguards with services of data processing, secure information distribution, information analysis and knowledge generation necessary to draw independent, impartial and credible safeguards conclusions. |
Main purpose |
The Senior Safeguards Information Analyst provides expert trade analysis to the IAEA's State evaluation process and related analytic products. These products provide the backbone for the implementation of safeguards and the drawing of conclusions on States' compliance with their safeguards obligations. |
Role |
The Senior Safeguards Information Analyst is: (1) a leader of analytic teams contributing to the State evaluation process and other complex analytic tasks; (2) an expert trade analyst, leading the regular review of information and ensuring that it is efficiently processed and disseminated within the Department; and (3) a strategist, promoting innovative methods and tools to advance analytic capabilities. |
Partnerships |
The Senior Safeguards Information Analyst develops working partnerships and collaborations across the Department and throughout the IAEA. The incumbent works especially closely with other members of the Section and with staff of the Operations Divisions to define analytic tasks and conduct analytic projects. S/he also liaises with other Departments on technical issues to obtain relevant information. The Senior Safeguards Information Analyst also interacts with representatives of Member States regarding new information sources, methodologies, and the Procurement Outreach Programme. |

Remuneration |
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $80 734 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $42 466*, dependency benefits, diplomatic status, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation, home leave, pension plan and health insurance.
