From development finance and biofuels to women’s rights and tax justice ActionAid is playing a major role in influencing international development issues. Join us as Policy Advisor and help develop a range of tactics that persuade and pressure policy makers in the UK and further afield, shaping thinking to ensure progress is made.
As part of the global ActionAid family, you will be working to build a fair and just world where everyone can claim their rights in an organisation which works with local people in more than 45 countries to fight hunger and disease, seek justice and education for women, hold companies and governments to account and help communities cope with emergencies. As Policy Advisor you will be initially focused on Tax Justice where we have played a key role in putting the issue on the UK and international agenda.
In the role of Policy Advisor you will undertake policy analysis, research and advocacy on issues covering economic justice and development in addition to tax justice. As you develop networks with key stakeholders, you will help shape advocacy strategies and contribute to the strategic development of the tax justice campaign as well as communicate your work via writing and media to social networks and public speaking. Important will be your ability to develop recommendations for changes in the policy and practice of UK government, international institutions and other relevant targets.
With demonstrable expertise in policy analysis and research of relevant development issues gained in a public policy, NGO or academic environment, you will have experience of working in developing countries or working closely with NGOs from developing countries, ideally in the field of advocacy. Effective at networking and contact building in political, academic or NGO settings, you will be good at political lobbying and skilled at producing concise briefs. Media aware and comfortable utilising social digital tools you will be passionate about our work and focused on delivering tangible results.
