Field of activity
The Global Donor Platform for Rural Development (Platform) is a network of 34 bilateral and multilateral donors, international financing institutions, intergovernmental organisations and development agencies. Members share a common vision that agriculture, rural development and food security are central to poverty reduction, and a conviction that sustainable and efficient development requires a coordinated global approach.
The Platform promotes the principles of the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness and the Accra Agenda for Action for sustainable outcomes on the ground. It provides a forum to exchange knowledge, build consensus and formulate joint approaches around critical or emerging issues.
The Secretariat is the Platform’s central management unit, located in Bonn, Germany. It is managed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Working language is English.

Your tasks
As Junior Professional Officer you support the Secretariat in its designated tasks and ensure a smooth communication and efficient network management. Specific tasks include:
- Communication with and services for Platform members;
- Event management (Annual General Assembly, Governance meetings, conferences (also webbased), workshops etc.);
- Specific background research as required;
- Facilitation of Platform members’ knowledge-sharing, website updates, organisation of publications (updating, print, dissemination, including the Platform’s Annual Report);
- Continued development of the Secretariat’s Operations Manual.
Your profile
- Advanced university degree in communications or agriculture/rural development or related fields;
- At least one year of relevant experience within a network of peer institutions;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English;
- Basic knowledge of German;
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
