The goal of the MLR Program is to strengthen the evidence base underlying GAIN's programs through robust results measurement, project and program evaluation and research. Among other partners, GAIN's MLR Program has major agreements with the Swiss Vitamin and Mineral Institute, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and Tufts University to help fulfil its mandate.
Effective MLR is crucial to GAIN's success. Based in Geneva, the Senior Associate will manage a portfolio of performance measurement and research activities in GAIN's program countries as well as at the global level. This includes the development of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plans, coordination of surveys, capacity building, and other M&E activities identified in country strategies. S/he will additionally have involvement in GAIN's knowledge building and research functions in order to ensure strategic involvement of MLR in advocacy activities as well as at the program design and evaluation stages, to improve GAIN's efficiency, flexibility and impact.
We are seeking candidates with significant experience and understanding of the following:
• Operations research, program management and evaluation
• Performance management of nutrition programs
• Portfolio management of activities in multiple countries
• The design, development and operationalising of M&E frameworks and plans
• Excellent understanding of quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
• Field experience with a preference for M&E and/or a technical role in the field in nutrition.
• Experience in a multi-cultural environment and managing local issues in developing countries.
• Masters degree in nutrition, public health, agriculture, economics, business administration, food science or a suitable equivalent.
Fluency in English is essential; working knowledge of another language - especially French - is highly desirable. You will be willing to travel extensively overseas.
