Responsibilities: • Provide assistance to develop a sustainable BDS market in select agricultural and industrial sectors that results in a commercially viable and sustainable model of BDS provision. • Strengthen BDS providers to provide management capacity development and adoption of new technology to private sector firms. • Support the development of a business enabling environment through building the capacity of the private sector, Chambers of Commerce, and business associations to actively and effectively participate in public-private dialogue. • Manage the BDS unit in collaboration with other project areas, and in consultation with the Chief of Party. • Provide daily management and oversight of BDS related technical assistance.
Qualifications: • Experience building the capacity of business associations and chambers of commerce to provide needed services to their members. • Demonstrated experience developing a competitive, market-driven and sustainable BDS sector. • Experience applying technical skills to a rural and agricultural development context is highly desirable. • 10+ years experience managing projects and staff as well as experience working with government at various levels. • A Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field. • Africa, particularly East Africa, experience highly preferred. • English fluency, written and oral, required.
