The successful incumbent needs to have solid Cisco systems experience.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Lead, manage and maintain the overall infrastructure throughout the African Region.
• Support the Communications network.
• Support ABG’s infrastructure specifically all VLANs, Routers, PBXs, switches and any other connected network devices.
• Plan and implement, with Regional alignment and guidance from the Barrick Corporate Office on any improvements, modifications, or replacement of network infrastructure within the African Region
• Provide new technologies to further strengthen and add value to the organisation.
• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to the infrastructure architecture.
• Assist with conducting research on Barrick standard products, services, protocols and standards.
• Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure products and services.
• Approve and administer user accounts, within the site PBXs.
• Be responsible for infrastructure change controls.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS
Education
• Degree / Diploma in Computer Science and / or Electronic Engineering
• CCNA and CCNP certifications are essential
• CCIE and MCSE will be advantageous
Experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a communications support role
• Extensive hands-on and implementation experience with the following:
Cisco devices
Hands-on voice and data links
LANs and WANs
VLANs and TCP-IP
Wireless and RF Comms
• Hardware, software and network connection troubleshooting
• Optimising and troubleshooting network devices.
