Programme Coordinator
African Center for Peace and Security Training (ISS)

The African Center for Peace and Security Training (ACPST) based in Addis Ababa Ethiopia is looking for someone to assume the duties of Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator will report to the Head ACPST.
The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) established the ACPST as its training arm in 2011. The ISS is a leading applied policy research institution in Africa with headquarters in Pretoria and offices in Dakar, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Pretoria and Cape Town. The ACPST is mandated to offer innovative training on issues impacting peace and human security on the African continent. The recipients of ACPST training are state officials and members of not-for-profit national and international organizations working on issues that affect human security and peace on the African continent. The long-term goal of the ACPST is to contribute to the creation of transnational and cross-issue knowledge networks on the continent that will significantly boost the ability of African states and social actors to ensure peace and improve human security on the continent.
Principal duties and responsibilities
- Assist the ACPST Head in the day-to-day administration of the ACPST
- Contribute to fashioning and implementing a long-term vision for the ACPST
- Assist the ACPST Head, committees and consultants in the design of training programs
- Play a leading role in coordinating training programs
- Assist the ACPST Head in grant-reporting and fund-raising
- Act as the secretary of high level committees within the ACPST
- Oversee subordinate staff within the ACPST
Qualifications
- A post-graduate degree in the Social Sciences or Law preferred. Post-graduate degrees in other disciplines with concentrations in human security issues will be considered.
- Excellent computer and IT skills
- Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills
- Ability to work in a diverse multicultural environment and with people from diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency in English and French with native fluency in one and working knowledge of the other.
- At least five years experience working in a mid-level administrative position.
- Experience in curriculum development and/or working in a training institution a plus.
