Job Title: Senior Donor Project Manager -1 Post
Reporting to the Director: Project Delivery & Innovation
Reporting to the Director: Programmes & Innovation, the Senior Donor Project Manager’s (‘SDPM’) main role is to facilitate the delivery of all MSU’s donor projects, ensuring that activities are well managed in accordance with deadlines, performance indicators and budgets. A key performance indicator will be the delivery of high quality reports to donors, in accordance with contractual requirements. This person is expected to be able to interface comfortably with key external stakeholders and donors as well as MSU directors and managers.
The SDPM will report into the Director: Project Delivery & Innovation, and sit on MSU’s Senior Management Team. The SDPM will lead a small, highly effective, projects team.
It is particularly important that the post holder is able to sustain a close and collaborative partnership with operational staff in the support office and field, so that project deliverables remain a focus of operational activities. In particular, this post holder will be able to work productively with the Research, Monitoring & Evaluation team to ensure that programme activities serve the indicators in MSU’s M&E framework, as well as the Finance team, to ensure projects are delivered to budget.
Your role will be to ensure:
• agreed performance indicators are met
• projects are implemented to budget
• reports are delivered to donors in accordance with contractual requirements
• technical support is well planned and coordinated
• onward granting is well managed
• contractual documentation is well maintained
• all activities are donor compliant
• the Donor Projects Team is well managed, led and integrated
• with other teams
Requirement:
Qualifications, Skips and Experience Qualifications: • Degree in any health or social sciences field • Additional qualification in project management desirable Experience: • At least 5 years’ experience in managing projects with strong administrative skills and experiences gained in the business or NGO sector (USAID project delivery experience strongly desirable) • At least 3 years demonstrated experience in management and leadership in a senior management position desirable • At least 3 year experience of setting up and/or closing down projects • At least 3 year experience in the preparation of project budgets and proposals • Experience collating information from various sources to produce reports for different audiences • Desirable: Experience of working on health-related/community development projects Skills: • Visionary and strategic thinker • Effective leadership, interpersonal, and team skills • Recognizable competence/credibility to ‘mentor’ • Ability to network and create positive, mutually co-operative relationships • Decision making skills • Able to prioritise complex workload and work independently • IT literate • Numerate (for performance analysis and budget development) • Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills • Fluent English language both oral and written • Strong administrative skills Attitude/Motivation: • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels • Sympathetic to women seeking family planning services • Ability to prioritize workload • Tenacious and persistent • Analytical approach to problem solving • Enthusiastic • Attention to detail • Keen to pursue personal development • Strong commitment to the goal and vision of MSU
