Contract - 7 Month Fixed Term Contract/Attachment Interviews to be held on Friday 25th November 2011 The BBC World Service Trust is the independent international charity of the BBC. Our mission is to improve the quality of people’s lives in developing and transitional countries through innovative use of media. We do this through our focus on health, governance, livelihoods, climate change and humanitarian response. We work in partnerships that include governments, broadcasters, civil society institutions, donor agencies and international Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs). Our Research & Learning (R&L) Group focuses on four key activities: (1) providing WST projects with audience and market insights to guide project strategies; (2) conducting quantitative and quantitative research studies to capture the impact of all WST media interventions; (3) building capacity in audience research skills and methodology on projects in country; and (4) documenting and disseminating the learning from the WST’s projects internally and to the wider development community. We are scaling up to deliver a global project which requires development of base line indicators across multiple countries that will enable us to measure impact. You’ll lead the team in developing and delivering innovative, high quality and consistent research and impact evaluation to enhance the quality of the media projects we deliver. Your key responsibility will be to manage staff, ensuring new joiners are inducted and the overall team adequately supported to deliver effectively. Strong management skills are the most important attribute needed in this role so you’ll have substantial experience managing teams of staff as well as significant experience managing the delivery of international research and consulting projects, meeting deadlines and within budget. With excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills, you’ll have the ability to conduct business at the highest level of government, private sector and media as well as with national team members. |
