Diagnostics Market Analyst

Background on the Laboratory Services Team: The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) works to broaden access to life-saving therapy for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria patients in the poorest parts of the world. CHAI approaches health access challenges with simultaneous and intensive engagement on both the demand and supply sides of the market. On the demand side, CHAI’s country teams help governments to scale up treatment programs, improve procurement processes, and enhance human resource capacity. The Laboratory Services Team (LST) is a key source of support for CHAI's country teams and works to address supply-side barriers to access and foster a healthy marketplace to ensure the sustainable supply of essential diagnostic testing. The LST works closely with diagnostics manufacturers and multilateral organizations to lower prices, increase access to testing, and accelerate the entry and uptake of new improved products. Though CHAI’s work on marketplace improvements is organization-wide, the LST plays the lead role in coordinating work globally on access to diagnostics. His / her primary objective will be to ensure that LST’s market knowledge is comprehensive and effectively captured, communicated, and applied to improve access to appropriate diagnostics as they are essential to increasing access to treatment. He / She will support the LST to build, maintain and update its supply and demand side market strategy for diagnostics. In doing so, the Analyst will develop strong relationships with various teams within CHAI, as well as senior management. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials, analytical ability, and communication skills. Responsibilities:

Identify, analyze and draw conclusions from large volumes of data from both the demand and supply sides of the diagnostic market and academic publications in order to advance CHAI’s collaborations with countries, suppliers, inform strategic decision-making, and assess the impact of CHAI’s work Develop and disseminate persuasive information from CHAI and other sources on supply dynamics and diagnostics issues Engage countries about reduced pricing for diagnostics available to CHAI’s consortium countries (72 developing countries in total) and help to ensure rapid and consistent uptake of these products Develop and leverage expertise in procurement best practices for diagnostics and other relevant health commodities in developing countries Design and implement data collection approaches and interface with CHAI’s country teams to gather valuable market insights Drive the development and dissemination of global forecasts for relevant diagnostics, working closely with global partners and other CHAI teams Develop communications materials based upon analysis Present findings from analysis to various audiences

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree plus 2-5 years experience working in the private sector Strong analytical, problem solving, and quantitative modeling skills, plus affinity for analytics and information management Extensive experience and comfort working with large datasets Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare compelling presentations Ability to think strategically, handle ambiguity and work in a fast-paced, limited-structure, multicultural environment Ability to learn on the job quickly and absorb/synthesize a broad range of information Detail-oriented with strong organization skills Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work independently Available for at least 25% travel Ability to be effective in high-pressure situations High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Powerpoint and Word Pluses: Pharmaceutical / healthcare industry experience Experience working in management consulting, investment banking, or similar environment Experience living or working abroad, particularly in developing countries Familiarity with global health issues Fluency in French, Portuguese and/or Spanish
