Background:
Japan Center for Conflict Prevention (JCCP) is a non-governmental organization established in 1999 in Japan. JCCP’s mission is to contribute to world’s peace and security through building human and social capacity for conflict prevention and peace-building. JCCP specializes in capacity building of NGOs and civil society, community security, training of experts in peacekeeping operations, peace-building for civilian, police and military, education and livelihood support. JCCP currently has three sub-offices worldwide: South Sudan, Kenya and Balkans. Since 2009, JCCP has conducted projects to support vulnerable children and youth through provision of sensitization and vocational training in Juba, South Sudan.
Duties and responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of Project Officer, the Community Mobilizer will perform the following duties.
Establish contact with potential beneficiaries and the community and act as a link between the community and the project team;
Assist in the selection of beneficiaries of project activities;
Follow-up on trainees and concerned issues to ensure smooth operation of vocational training;
Procure, distribute and maintain equipments/materials for project activities;
Assist in developing curriculum and teaching materials for sensitization activities;
Facilitate sensitization sessions on a given topic of his/her expertise (i.e. HIV/AIDs, hygiene, SGBV, sex education, substance abuse, crime prevention, etc);
Provide inputs to planning, implementation and evaluation of activities;
Assist in conducting assessments;
Establish good working relationship with the stakeholders including community, beneficiaries, relevant authorities, CBOs and individuals;
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualification and Requirements:
Secondary school certificate
At least 3 years of working experience in related field of work
Ability to maintain a good relationship with colleagues, beneficiaries, partners, government, donor organizations and other stakeholders
Approaches work with positive constructive attitude
Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity
Good spoken and written English and spoken Arabic
Computer literacy an asset
Sudanese National
