RTI International is seeking a highly qualified executive to succeed its President and CEO, Dr. Victoria F. Haynes, who announced her intention to retire earlier this year. Dr. Haynes' successor will lead an outstanding institution, whose 2011 revenues from contracts, grants, and other funding sources totaled more than $750 million.
The successful candidate will be a highly accomplished leader whose background will ideally include industrial, academic, and/or government research, analysis, and/or technology experience. Experience leading an organization engaged in advanced studies and analysis involving a high level of collaboration, empowerment, innovation, and interdisciplinary efforts, complex levels of social and technical subject matter, and genuine public policy challenges is required. Organizational leadership and analytic process management experience will preferably have been in situations consistent with RTI’s scope, i.e., diverse, multisponsor, multidisciplinary, international work.
Success in developing and maintaining key customer and community relationships is crucial. Excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role, both for the leadership and engagement of RTI employees and partnerships with North Carolina campuses and external sponsors.
The ideal candidate will have extensive personal contacts in relevant current domestic and international RTI customer organizations, and beyond. Success in the business elements of research and analysis—rigorous achievement of cost, schedule, and quality milestones—should be evident in the individual's management experiences.
