Position Location: Congo - various bases Position Duration: 8 Months
General objective:
► Define the methodology of the trial • Carry out situation analysis of the intervention zone • Propose and refine a methodology in collaboration with academic experts and ACF headquarters • Define indicators to be followed • Coordinate with the nutrition program how to identify the trial participants and how to follow the chosen indicators • Complete a trial implementation plan
► Present the project to the Ministry of Health and define a framework for collaboration • Inform the MoH about the trial • Obtain permission from the MoH to carry out the trial • Draft an MoU defining collaboration roles and responsibilities between ACF and MoH
► Train staff to be part of the trial management team • Recruit staff as necessary • Inform staff about the trial methodology • Train staff on their specific tasks
► Carry out a baseline hygiene study • Carry out a KAP survey • Provide statistics about diarrhea incidence • Design relevant messages to promote good hygiene practice
► Supervise the follow up of control groups and intervention groups • Organize the allocation of each groups • Organize the monitoring of weight gain (in collaboration with the nutrition program) • Ensure the correct distribution of PUR to the intervention group • Ensure the follow up of the intervention group concerning the domestic use of PUR • Organize home monitoring of the participants • Organize analysis of household water samples
► Write up the final report • Describe the methodology • Analyze the results (in collaboration with the academic partner institution) • Provide conclusions and recommendations • Write an article that summarizes the report, for publication in a scientific journal
Requirements: Education / specific degree / special skills:
Post graduate qualifications in nutrition or public health
Experience in scientific studies and/or research is essential
Capacity to design, carry out and supervise a study is essential
Ability to work in the French language essential
Knowledge of English also strongly preferred
Capacity to write scientific reports is essential
Understanding of CMAM is essential
Experience in bacteriological water analysis is preferable
