In East Africa, Lafarge is the majority shareholder in Bamburi Cement, Hima Cement, Bamburi Special Products and Lafarge Eco Systems.
We are looking to employ a dedicated and ambitious Plant Environment Coordinator to join the team at our Hima Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for finding and implementing engineering solutions and best practices in solving environmental issues, enforcing environmental programmes in line with Lafarge and East Africa policies while complying with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) standards and regulations. S/he will be a key link person between the plant and our stakeholders and will be responsible for all aspects of environmental management initiatives, communication & stakeholder relationship.
Other key responsibilities will include to:
• Organize and analyse environmental measurements and audit campaigns reports with internal and external bodies and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure-regulatory compliance of environmental activities and report any contravention of the NEMA regulation, code of practice, instructions to management for decision making.
• Propose and implement Engineering solutions to environmental pollution problems and challenges as part of continuous improvement.
• Assist with development and maintenance of the Environmental Management System.

Job requirement
The ideal candidate will have;
• A degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or its equivalent field (Masters in Environmental management is added advantage).
• 3 years experience in an Environment Management role preferably in a manufacturing company.
• Experience in environmental auditing and waste management and effluent control and relation experience with stakeholders.
• Practical understanding of the Uganda Environmental Legislation in Dust Control Management.
• NEMA Lead Auditor qualification is an added advantage.
• A degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or its equivalent field (Masters in Environmental management is added advantage).
