I. Supervisor:
The Accountant Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Administration and Finance Coordinator.
II. Duties and Responsibilities
The Accountant Assistant will be responsible for the day to day accounting work and the post requires the holder to work on a regular fulltime basis on the following duties:
SAGE PASTEL software operator:
* Enter financial transactions into the computerized accounting system;
* Deal with petty cash transactions (writing of receipts, preparation of payment files);
* Ensure that petty cash is reviewed and updated, and records are kept up to date;
* Ensure that records are in order for auditing at any time.
* Reconciliation of accounts and prepare monthly cash book and bank reconciliation
* Prepare project financial reports for donors
* Assist in managing the Project in kind resources (furniture, stationary, equipment, etc...)
III. Profile and responsibilities
* Rwandan citizen
* Diploma (Al), preferably in information management, accounting, finance, banking, or economics;
* Good spoken and writing skills in Kinyarwanda, French or English; knowledge of both French and English will constitute an advantage;
* Solid working experience (minimum 3 years) in projects as an accountant;
* Excellent bookkeeping, filing skills and attention to detail;
* Experience in project financial management (budgeting, planning, accounting)
* Familiarity with NGOs Project Management
* Proficiency in the use of information technologies and good computer skills, particularly in the use of SAGE Pastel and MS Office Package (MS Word, MS Excel, data base software, etc.);
* Knowledge of other computer based accounting software is an asset.
