Reporting to: Senior Communications Specialist for Africa Region
Responsibilities
• Develop and implement Jhpiego/Tanzania and program specific (where necessary) communication strategies.
• Document and coordinate dissemination (through conventional and new media) of user-friendly project information, success stories, photographs, and achievements to relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure high quality program communication (including but not limited to newsletters, brochures, flyers, ads, promotional videos, videos, slideshows) and multi-media materials are available to support Jhpiego Tanzania internal and external communication efferts.
• Oversee editing, formatting and creative design of Jhpiego publications and visibility materials.
• Ensure proper branding and marking of Jhpiego-led programs, materials and activities.
• Work with Jhpiego Tanzania Management to insure that all Jhpiego staff are familiar with the Jhpiego Communications Manual and processes.
• Work closely with the Jhpiego External Relations and Communications (ERCO) at Headquarters to develop accurate, creative story ideas for a variety of media and for visibility materials.
• Support public events management, media coverage and stakeholder engagement.
• Find new and innovative avenues to communicate Jhpiego message.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Responsibilities
• Degree (preferably advanced degree) in mass communication, public relations, journalism, public health, marketing or related field.
• Outstanding command of Swahili and English Languages.
• Proven writing (non-technical) and editing skills.
• 7 years communication/marketing experience, preferably in the health or development field.
• Ability to develop communications plans to synchronize with organizational goals in fundraising and development, government and corporate relations.
• Ability to develop a communications network for development of narrative of the organization work.
• Understand of conventional and new communications channels, including electronic, print, and social media.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with audiences important to Jhpiego, including media, legislators, donors and prospective donors, and corporate leaders.
• Ability to represent the organization effectively to external audiences including corporate and foundation executives, business and government organizations and other collaborating agencies.
• Strong computer, graphic design, organizational, analytical and assessment skills.
• Ability to represent the organization effectively to external audiences including corporate and foundation executives, business and government organizations and other collaborating agencies.
• Strong computer, graphic design, organizational, analytical and assessment skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and to meet deadlines under extreme pressure.
• Experience and ability to travel frequently to the field and international.
Tanzania nationals who have previous experience working with an international organization are preferred.
