Core Purpose To start and scale social businesses based on the identified needs of the Kilimanjaro Region in Tanzania. We do this in three ways: (1) incubate in-house Anza businesses; (2) support local entrepreneurs and ideas; (3) bring proven social business models into the region
About the role
The Culture & HR Officer will be working with all departments of the organization to ensure each department is appropriately staffed, job satisfaction is high and the team is developing. Anza believe we will go further if we have a motivated and strong team, this position is critical in the future growth and success of the organization.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Promotion and recruitment of Anza's Fellowship programme – aimed at International Development & International Business students from UK, Canada & USA.
- Building relationships with universities and other organisations to recruit FellowsBuilding relationships with companies internationally to attract Associate Consultants – these are experts that can assist Anza with specific, short-term needs. Mainly MBA alumni networks and companies with a commitment to CSR/ encouraging volunteering.
- Building relationships with local consultants
- Building relationships with relevant mentors and creating a database (both international and local)
- Pair staff with mentors and identify other support/ growth techniques
- Promote and implement skill sharing within Anza and in the wider Kili Hub community (coworking space)
- Facilitate regular trainings and workshops
- Arrange for external trainers to conduct training and workshops
- Conduct regular HR reviews – to identify HR concerns that need to be addressed
- Ensure employee satisfaction by coming up with motivational tools e.g. Employee of the Month
- Guide managers with conducting performance appraisals and ensure these are acted upon
- Guide managers with motivation and job satisfaction tools
- Conduct exit interviews
- Come up with performance tools that can be implemented
- Ensure core values are kept alive within the organization
- Setting up values based interviews
- On boarding process for international staff, interns, local staff, fellows etc.
- On going support for staff
- Regular professional development opportunities
- Regular team building days and events
- Identify recruitment needs with managers and exec team and promote these opportunities on various channels e.g. job sites & universities
- Come up with creative recruitment tools.
Qualifications: Essential:
- Experience in HR
- Positive attitude with leadership qualities
- Approachable and friendly personality
- Able to work with people from a variety of backgrounds
- Hard working with high level of initiative
- Empathy and high commitment to Anza's mission and organizational values
Desirable:
- Understanding of and interest in Social Business
- Experience working for an NGO or in a development setting
