PREVIEW AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Sultan Sands lsland Resort, Zanzibar was opened in 2005 with 76 rooms as the sister hotel to the adjoining famous Bluebay Beach Resort and Spa on the wide white beaches of east coast Zanzibar(Tanzania) which together make up Bluebay Hotels.
The hotel has been hugely successful as an all-inclusive 4% star beach resort set among a 1000 palm trees and wonderful landscaped gardens.
The wide white sands beaches and the warm Indian Ocean make for an outstanding beach holiday experience with Serengeti and Ngorongoro a short flight away over the ocean and into the finest wild life game parks in the world.
The position of Resident Manager ranks second in command to the Group General Manager based at Bluebay entailing a close working relationship with the GM keeping him informed daily and consulting him on all important issues.
Overall responsibility with a passion for the hotel and its operations in all departments will include the
following:
- Guests - ensuring their arrival, stay and departure and everything in between are all dealt with
Smoothly and add up to a positive experience with good feelings towards a return visit. Meeting as many as possible.
- Regular attention to all departments, close liaison with each HOD - planning staff training with them - periodic checking within the areas of the grounds and buildings, plant, machinery,furniture, fittings etc. and working closely with maintenance.
- Capex - working with HODs to ensure all operational requirements are kept up to par with sensible forward planning.
- Finances - working with the Financial Controller to ensure revenue is maximized, costs are controlled and budgeted results are achieved.
- F&B - an important area - ensuring standards of food and service in all aspects - checking food and beverage costs - staff training - crockery, cutlery, glassware and linen are kept up to scratch and up to par.
- Staff - training, morale, cleanliness, clothing, attitudes to work, absenteeism, behavior and above all efficiency and friendliness towards guests and each other. Planning of work schedules. - Security : an increasingly important matter - ensuring attendance and night time awareness -control of beaches and the hotels property and the belongings of the guests.
- Compliance - ensuring compliance with licensing laws, staff regulations, health and safety etc. -
The Resort is located 6 degrees South of the Equator with an ambient coastal climate with cool sea breezes and a breathtaking sea scape. In short an idyllic experience.
