The post is Programme Officer – Africa and you’ll be in the Programme department.
The post-holder will oversee a portfolio of about 5 institutional grants managed by Plan offices in sub-Saharan Africa and financed by institutional donors (principally the EU). They will support key project and grants staff to effectively implement, monitor and evaluate grants through the project cycle and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
The successful candidate will also support Plan Country Offices in the region to develop new, high-quality project proposals and tenders for institutional donors. S/he will build and maintain strong relationships with, and represent Plan to, UK/European institutional donors at various levels.
The position requires regular travel to the region.
It’s a permanent contract, and it’s a full-time post at 34.5 hours a week (we finish at 4.30pm on a Friday).
We are seeking a Programme Officer with fluency in French, as well as native or near-native English, to support grants and project teams in Plan offices in sub-Saharan Africa to develop, manage and report on a portfolio of Plan UK institutional grants.
You will have a degree and at least two years’ experience managing sizeable development projects and developing successful funding proposals to institutional donors (DFID and EU) to tight deadlines. You will have experience of donor representation and demonstrate a knowledge of development trends and issues. You will also have experience of living and working in developing countries (preferably in sub-Saharan Africa). You will be a good coach, able to work at a distance and under pressure, and experienced in coordinating a team to produce high-quality proposals and budgets and financial and narrative reports.
We are based in Old Street, London. (Finsgate, 5-7 Cranwood Street to be precise).
The usual recruitment rate for this post (Grade 3) is £33,298 with future pay progression within the pay band from £33,298 to £35,998.
