Functional Title: Consultant MICS4 - Reports Write up (2 Positions) Position Level: P3/NOC Type of Contract: Consultancy Duration: 3 Months Organization Unit: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Section
Background:
UNICEF Somalia has implemented MICS4 in Somaliland and Puntland zones of Somalia. So far, data collection, data entry, partial data analysis and preliminary reports write up have been undertaken. The purpose of the consultancy is to undertake the write up of the detailed final MICS4 survey reports for each of the zones.
Scope and methodology:
The two consultants in collaboration with the MICS4 coordinator will write up the MICS4 reports for Somaliland and Puntland in line with the format of the global MICS4 technical report. While the data analysis has been undertaken, further data analysis and contextual interpretation of the data will be undertaken in the course of the reports write up.
Tasks:
i) Write up the detailed draft and final survey report for Somaliland MICS4 ii) Write up the detailed draft and final survey report for Puntland MICS4
Management, Organisation and Timeframe: The positions will be managed by UNICEF Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation section and will report directly to the Planning and Monitoring Specialist, (Surveys and Research).The consultants will work closely with the MICS4 Coordinator, UNICEF Technical staff, Ministries of Planning in Somaliland and Puntland. The Consultants will be based in Nairobi or work remotely depending on the circumstances with possible travel to Nairobi. The duration of the assignment is for 3 months spread over 4 months period.
Deliverables at the end of the Assignment: • Somaliland MICS4 DRAFT report in line with the format for MICS4 technical report in March 2012 • Puntland MICS4 DRAFT report in line with the format for MICS4 technical report in April 2012 • Somaliland MICS4 FINAL report in line with the format for MICS4 technical report in May 2012 • Puntland MICS4 FINAL report in line with the format for MICS4 technical report in June 2012
Qualifications:
• Advanced University degree in Social Sciences, Demography, Development Planning, Statistics or a related technical field; • At least 5 years professional work experience in the field of research and analysis relating to programme monitoring and evaluation; • Excellent proven report writing skills • In-depth Knowledge of human development indicators; • Familiarity and experience with SPSS data analysis software; • Previous experience in conducting MICS, an asset; • Previous experience in conducting large scale research in Somalia or similar context an asset; • Excellent written and verbal English; • Good interpersonal communication skills. • Knowledge of Somali culture and previous experience of work within Somalia will be an added asset
