Based in the partner NGO offices, the researcher - Agronomy will provide technical assistance to Partner NGO staff and participate in implementation. He/She will also oversee implementation and submit progress reports as and when required or requested. The position is for the EU-GoB funded "Boosting Soil Fertility and Agricultural Productivity for Household Food Security in Peat Basin of Bangladesh" Project
Major accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Under the guidance of Senior SUSFER staff and other technical expert, responsible for providing technical input to NGO staff, beneficiaries and communities related to project activities
• Responsible for providing training the relevant personnel of partner organizations as well as training to participate farmers regarding modern crop production technologies, soil health and fertilizer management at the field level
• Assist implementing partners in organizing technology demonstration program and assist in farmer to farmer extension of technologies
• Assist partner organizations in identifying training reeds, develop technology manual and help in conducting required training
• Collect data from the field, prepare reports and submit reports to project coordinator/project leader
• Assist NGO partners in applying a community participatory farming systems approach
• Perform other related activities and as when required by the project leader and project coordinator
Qualification requirements
• Bachelors degree in Agriculture, preferably having a post-graduate degree in Agronomy from a recognized university
• About 3 years of experience in similar position of working in agriculture, on-farm research, technology transfer, rural development r related projects is essential; experiences in community participatory, farming systems oriented work will be highly valued
• The Researcher - Agronomy should possess strong and proven capability of communication, working in a team of multiple discipline and be fluent in spoken and written English; he/she should have capability and willingness to live in remote areas and working with poor farming communities; ability to work under pressure in a multicultural work environment and willing to undertake frequent travel to rural areas will be needed
