MAG has been working in South Sudan since 2004, and has supported our national partner, Operation Save Innocent Lives, since 1998. We’ve already helped many communities across the country living with the effects of the remnants of war, but there’s much left for us to achieve. We are seeking a Country Director to lead our programme, saving lives and building futures for those affected by conflict.
As MAG’s most senior representative in country, the Country Director will have oversight and responsibility for the robust management of current projects and the development of new activities, providing strategic leadership to the programme. This will include the management and development of the relationship with our local partner and the development of new project and programme activities throughout the ten states. Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager at MAG’s UK HQ, the Country Director will be responsible for leading and managing staff, developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, strategic financial management, administration and logistical support in addition to in-country strategic planning, proposal writing and budgeting, compliance with local regulations, overall security management and donor fundraising.
This will require an exceptional individual with previous strategic and senior management experience within an NGO, including expertise in programme and project design, development, implementation and management. This will require experience of overseeing and reinforcing robust finance, logistics, and human resource systems to ensure project efficiency. The successful candidate will need to be able to adapt to a rapidly changing context and have the necessary experience and diplomacy to work within complicated national and internal political frameworks as well as experience of working effectively with local partners.
This position is based in Juba and will require frequent travel to MAG bases across South Sudan.
