Oxfam GB is an international non-governmental organisation that has worked in Ethiopia since 1970s. Our mission is the relief of poverty, suffering and distress. In Ethiopia, Oxfam works with others to help poor women and men influence decisions that affect their lives, as well as working to protect the lives and livelihoods of people living in poverty. The Addis Ababa office is the head office for the Ethiopia Programme and Shinille is one of the Field offices. The position of Livelihoods Team Leader is an opportunity for a person with a strong Significant experience-based skills in implementation of the livelihoods intervention and knowledge of cash and market related methods of delivering aid. In Ethiopia Oxfam often responds to emergency humanitarian interventions both operationally and through partners, which requires additional support.
The Role
The position of the Livelihoods Team Leader is to lead implementation of the livelihood intervention, including needs assessment, design implementation, monitoring and evaluation in Shinille zone of Ethiopia. It also includes liaising and work closely with the Public Health team to ensure integrated approach for the overall area. Leading programms design, delivery and strategy, Manage Oxfam GB' s risk. Development effective networks within Oxfam and with appropriate external bodies. This role requires to represent Oxfam to regional and district technical Bureau at the filed level. Impacts directly on programme delivery and quality through leading implementation and providing technical support to livelihoods staff.
The Person
To be successful in this role you will have strong specific technical/professional knowledge of the area from formal training and/or work experience. Needs understanding of food security humanitarian interventions and policy issues. Proven ability to work creatively, innovatively and effectively. It also requires to be familiar with and abide by the NGO/Red Cross Code of Conduct, the People in Aid Code, Oxfam International procedures and other regulatory codes(eg. Inter Action Field Co-operation Protocol). Good communication skills are a must and ability to train others. You must have first degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in livelihoods long term program and knowledge of cash and market related methods of delivering in aid . Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal (English). Proven experience as a team worker and demonstrably co-operative with members of other teams.
