ACF is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger, misery and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for ACF in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.
ACF-Spain seeks to expand its team of Emergency communication officers for future vacancies in geographical regions where ACF-Spain is working.
DESCRIPTION
The emergency communication officer will report quickly on an emergency situation (context, needs, and challenges) and ensure visibility for ACF-Spain response in an emergency.
The will produce and disseminate internal and external communications during an emergency, collecting first hand information on the intervention, consolidating internal information, developing relations with international and national media and producing adapted multimedia content for the Internet, social networks, journalists and institutional communication tools.
Main tasks:
- External Communications: elaborate interviews, testimonies, photos and videos of beneficiaries, vulnerable population, ACF staff and experts; produce blog and videoblog, tweets and posts for social networks on a daily basis; collect success stories and short pieces of information for fundraising.
- Media relations: act as a spokesperson for media, facilitate interviews with ACF-Spain staff, develop contacts and relations with international correspondents, organise press visits to emergency activities.
- Internal communication: collect and produce an internal note on the emergency on a regular basis, attend coordination meetings and represent ACF-Spain in institutions upon the Country Director or Emergency Desk’s request, train local staff as spokespersons.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Experience as a journalist or a strong communication profile.
- Fluent in Spanish and English (reading, speaking and writing); French will be valued.
- Experience in the humanitarian sector; valuable experience in the field.
- Good public relations skills.
- An ability to work under pressure and in emergency conditions.
WE OFFER
- Formal contract of work.
- Retribution from 1200€ to 1800€ gross per month according to experience and responsibilities.
- House and maintenance cover by the organization.

- Per Diems.
- 25 working days of holidays per year.
- Breaks (including travel cost to the reference zone, and 200€ to pass the week of break).
- Travel and accident insurance and repatriation on account of the organization.
- Extra per month and per child- Under 18 years old.
REQUIREMENTS:
For candidates who are not in Madrid the first interview will be through telephone. Face to face interviews to be held in Madrid. Travel costs are initially on account of candidates, they will be reimbursed just in case of successful applications.
