Scope of Work Education Development Center (EDC) is a leader in international programs and research. Established in 1958, EDC designs, delivers and evaluates innovative programs to address some of the world’s most urgent challenges in education, health, and economic opportunity. EDC expects to have an increasing presence in East and Southern Africa and is looking for a Chief of Party as well as other exceptionally qualified and committed individuals with qualifications in the following areas. EDC is looking for individuals for both long term technical assistance and short term technical assistance.
Experts and Consultants are being sought include the following:
• Literacy and Early Grade Reading • Teacher Training (Pre-service or In-service) • Education Management and School Administrator Training • Curriculum Development • Education Policy and Planning • Community Mobilization • Testing and Measurement • Monitoring and Evaluation • Program Management • Financial Management
Must Have: • Regional experience in Africa, preferably in Mozambique and with projects funded through donor agencies such as USAID; • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 5-7 years relevant experience, or • Master's degree or equivalent with 3-5 years relevant experience; • Experience working in the areas that are listed above; • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills;
Chief of Party Qualifications: • Advanced degree in education or a related field • Previous Chief or Deputy Chief of Party experience in basic education projects • Technical expertise in one of the following areas: reading/literacy and school management • Extensive supervisory/project management experience, with preference for experience with USAID or similar donor and in Africa • A record of effective project leadership and management • Strong organizational, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills;
