ARC Haiti delegation runs an Active Directory controlled domain based network with 130+ workstations and 5 servers spread across 2 offices, with multiple satellite offices and operations outside of PaP.
ARC is looking for a candidate to take over the senior responsibilities, taking a hands-on approach and become part of an operations team in a high-tempo position in a challenging environment.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior IT Officer will administrate and work with the IT systems of ARC in line with established guidelines and procedures, as well as adapting new technologies and services to fit in to that framework in a dynamic IT department:
• Manage and oversee network operations to ensure availability of internet access, e-mail, protection, remote access, software distribution, file and print services. • Monitor network traffic, performance, gateway and server load. • Maintain server, network security and access rights. • Identify and resolve congestion, errors and problems, arrange and coordinate repairs, upgrades or maintenance. • Perform preventative care to ensure effective and optimized operations of network systems and services. • Review and evaluate new solutions and technologies, upgrades to existing technology and recommendations for new software, installation and review of new equipment. • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, user guidelines, and operational procedures. • Manage and provide assistance to users; computer installation, hardware setup, configuration, and repairs; network connectivity problems; and support for standard software. • Ensure data recoverability by implementing a consistent schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
• Supervise an IT assistant and other support staff providing technical guidance as necessary. • Assist in procurements including needs assessments and benchmarks, preparing technical specifications and evaluation criteria, and inspection of goods as well as bid analysis. • Manage software licenses and inventory of equipment.
Additional Duties Applicable to All Staff • Establish and ensure effective working relationships with all staff • Ensure effective working relationships with National Society counterparts and leadership; • Ensure effective working relationship with technical and service departments at national, delegation and headquarters level. • Perform other work related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor • Work towards the achievement of overall goals of the operations in the delegation through effective managerial and lateral relations and teamwork • Respect and work within the code of conduct of the Red Cross Movement
General In good mental & physical health Qualifications Undergraduate degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related fields. Equivalent in professional certifications is also acceptable.
