The Food Economy Group (FEG) is seeking qualified candidates to apply for a Livelihoods & Disaster Risk Management Specialist position on a project which is slated to begin in February 2012. The project aims to promote practical applications of existing livelihoods information in aiding the decision-making process, both on the emergency response and the development planning sides, and building capacity for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) in Ethiopia.
The Livelihoods/Disaster Risk Management Specialist will lead the capacity building activities of a livelihoods project and and act as a liaison with USAID funded projects that have Disaster Risk Reduction, livelihoods and early warning components. He/she will also contribute to the development of livelihoods applications and tools to help improve decision making processes for emergency and development purposes in Ethiopia.
Education requirements: Degree in rural development, Disaster Risk Management, livelihoods studies, food security, economics, or related field of study or equivalent experience.
Experience requirements: At least five (5) years of professional work experience in Household Economy Analysis, Livelihoods, Disaster Risk Management, food security or relevant or related capacity building sectors.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidate should have demonstrated advanced skills in training and implementing DRM and Early Warning tools.
