And the rest… The Ministry of Health is located in Stone Town, Zanzibar. The town was named for the coral stone buildings that were built there largely during the 19th century, on the site of a very old fishing village. In the evening, many little stalls lit with twinkling oil lights set up business at Forodhani Gardens in front of the Old Fort and sell finger foods such as small kebabs, fried chicken and cassava, octopus and samosas. It is a pleasant time to stroll there and watch the sunset, sampling the spicy foods. There are mosques, museums, temples and an Anglo Saxon church in Stone Town. There are a host of tourist related shops in Stone Town but the main market is at Darajani – meat, fish, vegetables and fruit are on sale. Zanzibar is also a good place to buy electrical goods. There are Education and Secure Livelihoods VSO volunteers living both in and outside Stone Town. You'll share accommodation with another volunteer, sharing a kitchen, common room and bathroom, with a private bedroom.
