International Centre on Small Hydro Power (IC-SHP)
Tasks
Improve small hydropower development in China by communicating with small hydropower technology centers worldwide and promoting new technology.
Facilitate technology transfer between China and IN-SHP member countries and use appropriate technology to carry out rural electrification projects in poor areas.
Find international sponsors and secure funding for small hydropower cooperation between China and IN-SHP member countries.
Assist with project management of bilateral / multilateral projects within China.
Provide and develop proposal development inputs and grant reporting.
Qualifications
University degree in one of the following areas: Chinese Affairs, international or development economics, international relations or engineering.
Required Skills
Knowledge of renewable energy sector.
Excellent communication skills to maintain relations with bilateral donors institutions.
Ideally project management experience.
Background knowledge of renewable energy sector in China desirable.
Experience of working in a developing country organisation for at least one year, preferably in the field of environmental issues / social development and poverty issues/ international aid (preferably in NGOs or international organisations).
Ability to plan, prioritise and deliver tasks on time.
Ability to work autonomously.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
General Requirements
In addition to the specific requirements for each post, good written and spoken command of English is essential and all the applicants should have good communication skills. Multi-linguists are preferred. The applicants should have basic computer skills.
Duration
6-12 months, can be prolonged upon a bilateral agreement.
General Remuneration Terms
The IC-SHP provides:
Expenses
General Due to limited resources, IN-SHP will only provide a modest monthly living allowance in the region of RMB 2500.
Meals Free lunch is provided at the canteen on workdays (Chinese Menu, From Monday to Friday)
Other Insurance and international travel expenses are to be borne by international staff themselves.
Accommodation International staff are entitled to free accommodation at the International Center guest rooms (all rooms are equipped with TV, phone, basic furniture and en suite bathrooms) and shared kitchen facilities.The rooms are based on a standard of two people sharing.
Office facilities All working facilities including broad band internet connection at each work desk in the office
Family Families are welcome; Hangzhou has a small but active expatriate community with several families. Details to be negotiated as appropriate
Language IN-SHP will be available to help with translation for work and social situations as necessary. Language courses are to be covered by international staff themselves.
Visas Experts must ultimately be responsible for their own visa arrangements. Either an F-Business or Z-Working visa is recommended, and IN-SHP can provide letters of invitation and other recommendations as necessary. Once in Hangzhou, IN-SHP can also facilitate renewals and extensions as required.
