COE (Centro Orientamento Educativo) is an association of lay Christian volunteers which began its activity in Italy in 1950s, operating in schools and social activities and training educators. It has become increasingly specialized in carrying out international voluntary service project in a spirit of human and social promotion and intercultural dialogue with wide reaching and multi-sectiorial programmes (education, development, health, sport and social activities) in the world.
COE is present in Zambia since 1988 when was called by the Archdiocese of Lusaka to start St. Ambrose Trade Centre (SATC) in Kafue a catholic non-profit making training institution. In 1996 a carpentry and metal fabricators workshop were created for two main reasons, to create a fund raising activity looking for self-sufficiency, to give a job opportunity to just graduated students. As at present the Institution boasts two separated and self sustainable entities, (a) a vocational school offering professional training courses officially recognised by TEVETA such as Power and Electrical, Carpentry and Joinery, Welding and Metal Fabrication, Cutting and Tailoring and Information Technologies and (b) three production units: carpentry, metal fabrication and tailoring. In the recent March 2009 COE started a new project co-funded by EU to increase and improve education and vocational training opportunities for the dropouts and the most vulnerable people.
Duties and responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator in Kafue, the incumbent is responsible for provision of project administration and finance support in Kafue, which is the hub of field based project coordination. The incumbent is responsible for performing routine administration and finance activities including general office and administrative support, maintenance of financial records for the three projects (production, school, EU project). All these activities will serve to support the effective field implementation of the Project. In particular, he/she will perform the following duties: To coordinate the administrative work of COE projects in Zambia; To deal with daily records and documentations for VAT, NAPSA, PAYE and payslips; To enter daily transactions; To analyze and reconcile various Accounts like cash, bank, suppliers…. ; To collaborate with COE Finance department for the preparation and production of periodic financial reports; To perform other duties as required in the general running of the office; To help the Administration Officer with all the Human Resource management Other duties as assigned.
Language: Excellent written and spoken English, Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting/ Finance Essential Qualifications: Zambian citizen At least 5 years as same position of accountant, Ability to meet timely deadlines and work with minimum supervision, Meticulous and neat, Proficient user of Microsoft office and internet applications, Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, Ability to take initiative and work independently, Ability to work under pressure
Duration and Remuneration: Six months contract renewable with a probation period of three months The package includes a Gross monthly salary of 400 euro per month (equivalent at the moment to Kw 2,500,000) and 2 leave days per month The position is full time from Monday to Saturday morning (i.e. 45 hours/week).
