Our Buzwagi Mine based in Tanzania require a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Accountant who will be responsible for the day to day management of Buzwagi’s Budgeting and Forecasting process and will also be required to interact with the Johannesburg Planning Team, OPCOM via the GM, Technical Services Group, Tax, Accounting, Treasury, Site Management and Finance Personnel. This position will report into Buzwagi’s Administration Manager and is worked on a FIFO 6/3 weeks roster.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for administration, development, maintenance and integrity of Buzwagi Planning models / systems including integration of planning systems (Tax and Accounting within Buzwagi).
- Continuous improvement to the planning process including provision of instruction and guidance in relation to forecasting requirements and techniques to Senior Finance Managers and Senior Mine Accountants.
- Timely consolidation, analysis and reporting of long term budgets and strategic plans.
- Monthly coordination, consolidation, analysis and reporting of financial forecasts including the provision if meaningful query and analysis on forecast data prior to submission to DAR SBC.
- Provide finance analysis for potential investments / divestments (due diligence), project / investment reviews (post mortems) and valuations of individual operations.
- Undertake strategic thinking to identify and pursue issues that should be considered in the planning process.
- Promote safety on site and support all Health and Safety Initiatives.
- Use discretion in applying practices and procedures to resolve issues, demonstrate a broad and thorough understanding and application of technical and / or specialized concepts and knowledge in the business.
- Capture and Communicate savings / benefits as a result of the processes.
- Supervising, training and developing of Accountants on site.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Education Requirements:
- Post Graduate Qualification in Accounting or Finance
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CA / CPA Professional qualification is advantageous
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 5 yrs experience in business planning modeling
- Minimum 5 yrs experience in varying disciplines of finance is Preferred
- Experience in a role that requires coordination of multiple processes
- Excellent organisation, planning and communication skills to be able to coordinate data from and report to all level with in the organisation.
- USGAAP and foreign currency translation, in addition to forecasting, budgeting, planning and modelling skills.
- IFRS knowledge is an added advantage
- Ability to demonstrate complex problem solving abilities as well as complete work at both a big picture and very detailed level.
- Computer literate: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc) and Pronto would be advantageous.
