FINANCIAL ANALYST (QUANTITATIVE RISK) - 2 POSTS
Reports to: Head of Division.
Location: Head Office - Foreign Markets Department
Job purpose:
To monitor and report the performance of the foreign reserves portfolio and to provide independent analysis of risks associated with foreign investments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
a) Monitoring and analyzing global financial markets and developments and recommending appropriate investment strategies;
b) Analyzing and comparing the performance of the portfolio to that of the benchmark to determine sources of excess return (performance over the benchmark) or deficit return (underperformance) versus the benchmark;
c) Preparing periodic investments reports to assist management’s oversight of reserves management operations;
d) Building and implementing models and tools for tactical and strategic asset allocation, risk allocation and portfolio construction;
e) Maintaining portfolio database in the treasury management system and portfolio analytical tools including; registration of counterparts, instruments, limits; close follow up of securities prices;
f) Analyzing and forecasting interest rate movements of major economies;
g) Analyzing portfolio risks profile and assessing compliance to investment guidelines and policy;
h) Conducting research on new investment instruments and providing sound recommendations to the management;
Essential Requirements:
Masters degree in mathematics, finance, accounting, financial economics, or science graduated from 2008 and a good bachelor’s degree with a high content of mathematics.
• Professional certification such as CFA or FRM is desirable.
• Good understanding of or experience with government fixed income securities.
• Proven analytical skills including familiarity with financial modeling techniques.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with systems that support trading such as Bloomberg, Reuters, Wall Street Suite will be an added advantage.
• Good team player.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
