Strengthening Uganda’s Systems for Treating AIDS Nationally (SUSTAIN)
University Research Co., LLC (URC), a US-based public health organization working in Uganda since 2005, is Implementing the USAID-funded SUSTAIN project. The program supports provision of quality, comprehensive HIV/ AIDS services at over 30 health care facilities across the country. URC is seeking qualified candidate for the following positions based in Kampala
1. LABORATORY QUALITY IMPROVEMENT ADVISOR (1 position)
Job Summary
The Laboratory Quality Improvement Advisor (QI) will lead the QI component of SUSTAIN laboratory strengthening program, working closely with relevant departments of the MOH, CPHL and AIDS Control Program (ACP), respective regional referral and general hospitals and other stakeholders.
Minimum qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Laboratory Science or equivalent degree qualification.
Additional post-graduate qualifications/training will be of added advantage.
At least 3 years of demonstrable practical experience with managing HIV laboratory programs
In-depth knowledge of the current approaches in the field of adult and paediatric HIV prevention, care, treatment and monitoring laboratory service set-up and delivery
Knowledge in quality improvement approaches
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and others)
3. LABORATORY SERVICES STRENGTHENING ADVISOR (1 position)
Job summary
The Laboratory Services Strengthening Specialist will work closely with relevant departments of the MOH, CPHL and AIDS Control Program (ACP), respective regional referral and general hospitals and other stakeholders to plan for and provide the required support to strengthen capacity of public health facility laboratory including procurement and laboratory renovations.
Minimum qualifications
As QI qualifications above with at least 5 years of demonstrable practical experience with managing HIV laboratory programs, specifically planning for and delivering of laboratory services within the context of MOH and PEPFAR programs in the country.
3. DRIVER (1 Position)
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Finance & Administration Director, drive office staff and equipment to various locations in Uganda for project activities. Ensure the vehicle is in good mechanical condition, is prepared for long trips on rough terrain; maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle both inside and out; ensure that the first aid kit is in place and stocked at all times & carry out routine monthly service of the vehicle, including oil changes and general service.
Minimum qualifications
O-level Certificate with relevant training.
Knowledge of mechanics is an added advantage.
Valid Driver’s License – Class B & DL
4 years driving experience and 2 years
Experience in project related work.
Familiar with all terrain in Uganda.
Fluent written and spoken English
Able to work with an international/multicultural team.
Able to move to the field on short notice
