CONCESSION TO MANAGE AND OPERATE THE CARGO TERMINAL COMPLEX AT SIR SERETSE KHAMA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
The cargo terminal complex at SSKIA is a new facility measuring 2936m2 with provision for expansion and with a capacity to handle 4,000 metric tonnes per annum. The establishment of the facility is in line with Government's policy initiative to establish an air cargo hub at SSKIA.
It is expected that companies and entities qualified to bid will comprise a reputable, technically and financially qualified cargo terminal operator. Botswana based entities bidding as joint ventures or consortium are encourage to submit EOI.
Basic Requirements:
Interested entities wishing to respond to this expression of interest must meet the following minimum requirements in order for them to participate in this EOI procedure. Interested bidders should provide this information clearly labeled in their statement of EOI.
a) The bidding entity must have ten (10) year experience in cargo terminal operation or if a joint venture or consortium it should include is experienced cargo terminal operator with ten (10) year experience.
b) The bidding entity must have experience in handling cargo capacity of at least 4,000 metric tonnes per annum.
c) The bidding entity should also be able to demonstrate the financial ability to set up and operate the air cargo terminal for a minimum period of six (6) months with no sales income.
The Bid Process
The Purpose of this notice is to solicit interested parties being cargo terminal operators, to express interest in participating in the tender for the provision of management and operating of cargo services at SSKIA. Interested parties are hereby invited to submit an Expression of Interest statement including the following information:
a) Profile of the bidding entity, a profile of each of the participants in the consortium and the shareholding to be held by each participant.
b) Description of the proposed methodology and main terms and conditions for provision of the services.
c) The designated contact person and full contact details including physical and postal address, facsimile and email.
d) Any other relevant information.
This expression of interest shall be followed by a tender process and based on that, the determination of the bidder who will be awarded
the concession to provide cargo operating services at SSKIA.
Only parties who have submitted a Statement of Interest in response to this notice will be invited to participate in any subsequent tender process.
Submission Procedures
Statements of interest must be submitted by hand addressed to: The Manager Procurement and Administration, Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana, Plot 61920 Letsema Office Park, Block B Ground Floor, Fairgrounds, Gaborone, Botswana and should arrive not later than 29"' April 2011 at 1700 hours Botswana local time. Statements on Interest delivered after the deadline (date and time inclusive) or submitted by facsimile or email will not be considered.

This notice relates solely to the expression of interest from interested parties. Submission of the Statement of Interest or any material in ] response to this notice shall not be construed as a formal pre-qualification nor shall receipt of such submission be construed as an offer or agreement to award a concession to lease and operate the cargo terminal as proposed by any party. CAAB reserves the right to alter or modify the terms of or suspend or cancel this process at any time.
