About DAI
DAI is an employee-owned global development company. For over 45 years, we have worked on the frontlines of international development, tackling fundamental social and economic development problems caused by inefficient markets, ineffective governments, and instability. Our integrated development solutions turn ideas into impact by bringing together fresh combinations of expertise and innovation across multiple disciplines—crisis mitigation and stability operations, democratic governance and public sector management, agriculture and agribusiness, private sector development and financial services, economics and trade, HIV/AIDS and disease control, water and natural resources management, and energy and climate change. Our clients include international development agencies, international lending institutions, private corporations and philanthropies, and national governments.
Objective of the Programme
The purpose of the Dar Jobs Programme is to create employment and increase incomes for poor people in Dar es Salaam, particularly women and youth, and catalyse sustainable development of the targeted sectors (light manufacturing, waste management and childcare.
DAI is currently looking for additional experts to complement our team for this urban market systems programme. With extensive experience in Tanzania with DFID and USAID, DAI is looking to build a strong team around the framework of experience gained over the past 15 years with market systems and value chain approaches.
Scope of Work
The programme has already been through a design phase and identified three target sectors that interventions will need to be designed around as part of an Innovation Facility.
The targeted sectors are as followed: -
- Light manufacturing in areas such as Gerezani, Keko and Tabata
- Waste management
- Childcare
We are therefore keen to hear from market systems experts who have had experience in these areas and have a strong knowledge of Tanzania and particularly Dar es Salaam.
As per all DFID funded programmes there will be scrutiny placed on value for money and aid effectiveness, so keen to hear from Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) specialists with knowledge in Dar and Tanzania and urban setting sectors.
