Role Title: Head of Warehouse Service Line
Department: Warehouse / Operations
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania with travel to international sites
Reporting to (Position Title): Directors of the Company
Direct Reports: +/-10 pax
Overall Purpose
To support Group Logistics operations such that objectives are met at the required work performance standard and in accordance with company behaviours and values.
To manage liabilities to ensure legislative compliance and achievement of best practice to meet Corporate objectives.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and relevant Government legislation.
To focus on the customer experience.
To promote continual improvement, humility and safety across the Group.
Accountabilities & Responsibility Areas
Supervises the daily operation and administration of the warehouse facilities in all current and future geographies.
Supervises and following up the construction of the warehouses across the Group.
Complies with local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
Supervises the daily operation and administration of the warehouse facilities.
Assigns appropriate resources, determines objectives and procedures, and monitors results to ensure inventory is accurate.
Ensures materials are received, stored, shipped, and reported in accordance with established procedures and Government guidelines/regulations and meet contract requirements.
Manages procedures and controls for hazardous material shipments.
Drives the automation strategy for the Group in the warehousing function, utilizing new and existing software to ensure efficiency and replication of all systems across all geographies.
Achieves financial objectives for the line of business, responsibilities include preparing yearly budgets and ensuring cost savings where required.

Actively supports Group health, safety & environment policies and procedures.
Ensures safety of workforce by educating employees on proper procedures and safety guidelines, strives to achieve an accident free workplace and attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcome.
Formal Training/Education/ Experience
University Degree. MBA would be a plus.
At least 10 or more years’ experience in a logistical/warehouse environment
Previous supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge or experience in the handling and management of government property strongly desired.
Hazardous Materials certification preferred.
Proficient with computer software programs including Microsoft Office, SAP, Warehouse Management Systems
Knowledge & Skills
Must possess copperbelt experience either managing multiple warehouses for mining firms or servicing mining warehousing needs on behalf of a major international logistics organisation
Good organisation and planning skills
International/African exposure.
Strong Management Skills, able to efficiently organise a large team.
Excellent communication skills and analytical skills.
Desirable Skills And Experience
Prior road haulage/warehouse experience within East, Central and Southern Africa
Knowledge and experience with freight movement of copper cargo and mining supplies
Knowledge of copper belt region and services to mining sector
Knowledge of oil, gas and mining industries within Africa
High level account management experience and business development skills with track record of developing warehouse business revenue in tandem to managing warehouse operations
Experience of managing >$1million of business revenue through responsible accounts
Ability to put operational processes in place for the benefit of the business, stakeholders and the team’s efficiency.
