Purpose of the position:
This new role is designed to support donor communications for Grant Acquisition and Management within World Vision Tanzania’s (WVT), Sub-Office based in Dar es Salaam. This is an opportunity for a seasoned communications practitioner to work alongside WVT’s dynamic program and communications team to support the growth and visibility of the WVT grant projects brand, awareness-building, engagement and resource mobilization efforts.
To strengthen alignment and coordination to World Vision communications policy the incumbent will work closely with the WVT Communications Officers. He/she will also be expected to collaborate with other WVT program clusters, WV support offices, media, development partners and civil society to communicate development results of the grants.

Major Responsibilities:
- Support development of WVT’s communications strategy with emphasis on refining the grants project communications component.
- Develop and implement communications/media plans for all grant project stakeholders
- Develop public information and creative publications to profile and promote WVT grant project(s) mission and project(s) activities to all stakeholders(fact sheets, progress reports, bulletins, project profiles, media releases, etc.)
- Raise awareness to internal and external audiences including WVT Support Office donors and donors at national level through use of GIS, video, social media, blogs, twitter and other tools
- Provide communications related technical inputs to grant project proposals and reports
- Produce impactful human interest news articles, features, success stories, case studies on grants projects for sharing across the wider internal WVI partnership and WVT external platforms
- Act as focal point and ensure the development, implementation and coordination of the grants communication Annual Work Plan
- Compile photo library, press clippings as well as web based news items related to WVT grant projects, and bring significant news items to the attention of WVT senior management through the Communications Manager
- Manage and coordinate donor and media field visits and maintain regular and effective contacts with press and other targeted audiences
- Build the capacity of WVT grant projects staff to work with the media
- Oversee the production of film documentaries on grants projects
- Provide support to facilitate the communications aspects related to annual meetings and project visits with donors, government and partners
- Take photos of project activities
- Work with communications department to ensure consistency and compliance with WVT branding guidelines for all project related communication materials and products
Qualification and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related discipline
- At least five 3-5years’ work experience.
- Outstanding writing and editing skills, including excellent command of grammar and demonstrated ability to write platform specific content (short for Twitter, detailed for newsletter article, etc.)
- Experience working with senior leaders to develop content; ability to interface effectively and positively at all levels of internal and external management and staff
- Comfort working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
- Ability to work both as a team member and individually, all with minimal supervision
- Ability to translate complex technical language and ideas into language that is easily comprehensible to non-specialists
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with knowledge of desktop publishing software
- Familiarity with a content management system (website) is an advantage
Experience in event coordination is an advantage
