Plan is an international child - centered Development Organization whose mission is to achieve lasting improvements in the quality of life of deprived children through a process that unites people across cultures to add meaning to their lives.
Plan has been working in Tanzania since 1991; it operates in 6 areas, Mwanza, Geita, Ifakara, Kibaha, Kisarawe and Dar es Salaam. Plan Tanzania works with 32,900 sponsored children, their families and their communities implementing programmes at grassroots level in child protection, health, education, water and sanitation, income generation and building relationship across cultures

Job Purpose: To communicate Plan Tanzania's best practices and all activities to all key stakeholders (internally and externally) including partners, donors, sponsors and Government through employing relevant communication channels.
Job Requirements:
Communications Strategic Plan
Ensure effective corporate communication in order to maintain a good image for the organization, build organization influence in advocacy issues and raise the potential in societies that respect people's rights and dignity.
Seek to build the brand of Plan within the country, region and beyond in order to maintain a good image for the organization, build organization influence in advocacy issues and raise the potential of Plan Grants Portfolio.
Enhancement of Communications and Advocacy
Engage communities in message development and pre testing of Program Communications to ensure the right messages are communicated appropriately.
Setup mechanisms where children, communities, government departments, Local Non-Governmental Organizations and Community Based Organizations, staff, partners and media are encouraged to provide feedback on programs and communication activities and that this feedback is documented in all projects information
Make frequent visits to project sites and record activities in the form of pictures, slides, and video films, and written reports.
Disseminate information in the form of articles, bulletins, booklets, photographs, Plan' Newsletters and video films. Arrange with the media (TV, radio and newspaper journalists) to visit projects and make information available to the public about program activities.
Prepare press releases, press advisory messages and press packets for journalists as authorized by the Country Director.
Resource Management
Improve and manage Plan Tanzania's Web Page in cooperation with the Country Director and ICT Manager.
Review and compile appropriate reports, data from various sources related to Plan's work and publish on the Web Pages when authorized
Update information on the Web Page to keep abreast of changing circumstances and new developments
Manage and regularly update the Information .Resource Centre and follow-up on-the resource needs of staff.
Child Protection and Risk Management-
Demonstrate commitment to Plan's child .protection policy through implementing the policy fully, and report any actual or potential risk situations following the reporting procedures, being aware of abuse and risks to children, being vigilant, becoming familiar with the Child Protection Policy.          .
Raise children's rights/ protection awareness within Plan and amongst patners and community members
Knowledge and Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical, strong negotiation, facilitating and influencing skills.
Excellent networking and partnership skills
Strong planning and organizational skills
Strong management skills in coaching, problem solving and people management
Qualifications and Experience
University degree in Mass Communication or its equivalent in a communication related Discipline
3-5 years' experience in communications/PR or journalism.
At least 2 years at a senior level
Child Protection
Plan Tanzania is a child centered organization. Protecting the rights of the children is of paramount interest to us. , Subsequently, all short listed candidates will undergo a police vetting check for criminal offences particularly relating to any type of child abuse; The successful candidate will be required to sign and adhere to the Plan Tanzania child protection policy.
Remuneration
The above positions carry attractive remuneration as per Plan Tanzania salary structure and incentive package.
