Plan International Inc. Kenya is seeking to recruit for the position Deputy Country Director based at the Country office Nairobi. The post holder will report to the Country Director of Plan International Kenya and will be based at the Country Office. The purpose of this position is to lead, manage and support Program Unit Managers in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating program interventions; and to provide support and guidance in the management of their respective teams to ensure high performance and the achievement of organizational goals. He will also supervise the Sponsorship Manager, Administration Manager and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Manager. The incumbent will be a member of the Country Management Team, and will give high-level, strategic contribution to the leadership of the organization as a whole, in close cooperation with other senior staff.
Key Responsibilities
• Work in close collaboration and coordination with the PU Managers and CMT members to ensure that the necessary conditions exist for the achievement of the organization’s objectives.
• Ensure that organizational strategic objectives are achieved, and that relevant targets are integrated into PU operations.
• Ensure PUs comply with corporate governance systems, policies and procedures, formulating locally appropriate versions as needed.
• Provide visionary leadership, coaching for results and support to PUMs in the management of programs, as well as in their individual development and performance.
• Build and oversee managerial accountability at the PU level, with particular attention to program quality and timely utilization of budgets in line with annual plans and donor conditions.
• Coordinate support to the PUs from the wider CMT and other departments.
• Ensure that organizational strategic objectives are achieved, and that relevant targets are integrated into PU operations.

Educational Qualification and Experience
• A minimum of a Masters Degree in development or related field
• At least 5 years experience in a similar, senior management role
• Demonstrated experience in the management of key programmatic areas such as health, education, livelihoods, disaster risk management and protection.
• A commitment to, and understanding of, participatory approaches to development.
• Knowledge of human resource and change management
• At least 5 years experience in a similar, senior management role
