Our office in Moshi, Tanzania is currently looking for a Africa Program Director with experience working and living in Tanzania. The Africa Program Director must exhibit strong leaderships skills, be able to motivate a team of multi-cultural staff to ensure all projects meet milestones and impacts as outlined by donor requirements.
Specific responsibilities include:
Oversee Sustainable Harvest at Origin/Africa development program, including various projects in four regions across Tanzania.
Manage and supervise a multi-cultural staff body, including all human resource functions such as hiring, training, and performance appraisals.
Develop and manage financial controls for project staff, as well as oversee multiple budgets simultaneously. Review and approve monthly project budget projections in accordance with total project budgets.
Plan and develop projects based on needs assessments.
Develop and manage work plans for multiple projects, ensuring goals and milestones are met.
Write funding reports including impact stories for internal and external audiences.
Write and aide in developing proposals aimed at various donor agencies, upon request.
Develop institutional relationships with local cooperatives, government institutions, funders and coffee traders.
Develop procedures and policies for staff working in Tanzania, to ensure safety and security of expatriate staff, including working with local taxation and immigration authorities.
Effectively communicate and present the Sustainable Harvest Business Model to various audiences, both large and small.
Advanced degree in International Development, Project Management or other related degree
3 – 5 years experience in a similar role
Experience managing and supervising multi-cultural staff
Experience working and living abroad in East Africa, preferably Tanzania
Fluency in Kiswahili and English
Experience in project management
Must be highly organized and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Community Care M&E Specialist
Futures Group is seeking a Community Care M&E Specialist to provide technical leadership in monitoring and evaluation activities for the MEASURE Evaluation Tanzania project. MEASURE Evaluation is a multi-year, multi-million dollar project financed by USAID that provides technical leadership through collaboration at local, national, and global levels to build the sustainable capacity of individuals and organizations to identify data needs, collect and analyze technically sound data, and use those data for health decision-making. This position provides support to the MEASURE Evaluation Tanzania program in the area of the M&E of community-based service delivery and orphan and vulnerable children (OVC) programs, including technical guidance and direct technical assistance to the Department of Social Welfare and USG Implementing Partners. The position will be based in our Dar es Salaam office.
Key Responsibilities
Working principally under the MEASURE Evaluation Project and in collaboration with the MEASURE Evaluation Chief of Party, the Community Care M&E Advisor will:
• Work with the Department of Social Welfare on the development and implementation of the Most Vulnerable Children M&E System, including but not limited to supporting development and implementation of data collection tools, M&E capacity building activities and stakeholder coordination for M&E. • Support other government agencies or departments with the development and implementation of their M&E systems as need arises • Provide technical assistance to Local Government Authority staff, i.e. District Social Welfare Officers and Community Development Officers, on using data for planning and decision making. • Develop and apply tools and curricula to build M&E capacity especially among OVC program staff to collect, report and use appropriate program data at the national, and community levels. • Support implementing partners to adapt and use MEASURE Evaluation tools and approaches, such as the Community Trace and Verify and Participatory M&E. • Provide technical assistance to the development and implementation of rapid assessments and/or evaluations on community-based programs. • Facilitation of trainings
Qualifications
