The incumbent is primarily responsible for leading the SA based Global Mobility consultants. The team provides international assignment consulting and administrative services to a portfolio of clients (mostly at senior levels in both Human Resources (HR) and line functions).
The incumbent owns and manages the global mobility process and supports and partners with HR business partners and line management in providing a professional, compliant mobility advisory and support service primarily for assignee moves into and within South Africa and Africa
This will require liaison with country HR and all international HR offices as well as the London based Mobility team members, Group Tax, shared services, payroll, resourcing, Corporate Health and external service providers where services are outsourced..
Day to day leadership of the team.
Monitoring of work in progress, ensuring resources are appropriately aligned to business units.
Ensuring the mobility policy is regularly reviewed maintaining best practice in the global market.
Play a key role in the change management and education aspects of a new assignment pay and benefits structure.
Act as an escalation point for complex cases or issues not dealt with by the mobility consultants
Manage vendor relationships including the monitoring of SLAs and leading any tender processes.
End-to-end assignment process ownership, co-ordination and management from initial assignee briefing to repatriation.
Responsible for the management and co-ordination of balance sheets, assignment letters and contracts, cost projections, etc.
Communication and education regarding the international assignment process and policy (to both HR consultants and relevant line managers), ensuring Group consistency and working in collaboration with Group HR and other BU HR entities also involved with international assignments.
Develop, initiate and roll-out education sessions to respective BUs where more detailed knowledge is required (partner with HR Business Partners to ascertain needs – be proactive where possible (if expansion or a new country operation is being considered where prospective secondees are a likely scenario – create awareness, research any issues/questions and educate around policy, process, likely issues, etc).
Ensure efficient facilitation of the international assignment process through direct involvement with BU HR BPs, line and (prospective and current) secondees.
Ensure that the international assignment process is working optimally across areas and countries.
Escalate issues/ problems to Group HR in need.
Effectively provide an administrative and relational support function in respect of all aspects pertaining to the international assignment process (this includes the drafting of contracts, tax support and advice, facilitation of any matter requiring intervention/assistance in respect of the secondees (invoices/ business expense claims), be a primary contact for secondees with regard to issues/ matters that require addressing).
Maintain relevant MIS in respect of assignees (both inbound and outbound) and communicate this regularly as required.
Work collaboratively with Group HR and respective Group BUs in addressing international assignment process/ policy issues and escalate any issues or problems where they occur.
Meet regularly with Group HR in this regard.
Work collaboratively with Group HR and other stakeholders in establishing best practice processes, effective communication channels and finding practical and effective solutions to challenges and issues faced by the international assignment community.
In partnership with relevant Compensation managers jointly manage the year end reward process for the assignee population.
