SENIOR PROGRAMME MANAGER, COTTON PROGRAMME
(BASED IN DAR ES SALAM)
This role is a senior position managing a £10m+ programme impacting over 400,000 farmers. It requires a professional with a minimum of 5 years management experience who is used to working in Africa and in agriculture. Cotton experience is useful but not essential. More important is a professional delivery mind-set, the ability to project manage a complex programme and to work as part of a multi-cultural team with the requisite interpersonal and diplomatic skills. This role is for a minimum of 2 years in Dar Es Salam with strong potential to extend. For the right candidate there may be an option for this to be a permanent Gatsby position, with the person returning to London after this assignment.
Candidates will be strategic thinkers with sound judgement, private sector DNA and the ability to rapidly understand new industries/sectors or companies. They will have a demonstrable commitment to African development, strong understanding of the development landscape, and be willing to travel. They should be attracted to working in a dynamic, non-bureaucratic environment. Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills are essential, along with an ability to engage at senior level with Government and the private sector. They will be self-starters with the ability to initiate and manage programmes to deadlines, bring in leading experts, and develop partnerships where necessary.
