Working Relationships
The Community Manager, mHealth Alliance is a member of both the mHealth Alliance team and the UN Foundation’s Public Affairs team.
The Community Manager, mHealth Alliance reports to the Executive Director of the Alliance with a dotted line to the UN Foundation’s Director, Online Communications. In addition, the Community Manager will work closely with the Communications Officer, mHealth Alliance to develop an editorial calendar and coordinate daily content on the Alliance’s online properties.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Work with the mHealth Alliance team and Public Affairs team to develop and deliver an annual workplan for HUB, including partnerships, outreach, website enhancements, and resources required to make HUB a successful tool for the mHealth community.
• Work with the Alliance team and Public Affairs team to develop and deliver an extensive editorial calendar for all online communications related to the Alliance- including mhealthalliance.org and HUB.
• Lead web content development process to include writing and editing web content and email messaging for mHealth Alliance in coordination with the UN Foundation’s priorities and communications.
• Regularly solicit feedback from the mHealth community about usability and needs for future development of HUB.
• Work with Alliance team and Public Affairs team to draft and publish select thought leadership pieces on mHealth that can be featured on HUB and mhealthalliance.org, including blog posts, discussion thread topics, and analytics.
• Develop and manage strong relationships with external members of the mHealth community regarding their engagement in HUB, participation in the HUB blogging program, and integration with Alliance online messaging.
• Convene virtual and in-person networking events for the mHealth community, including engagement with the Alliance Communities of Practice, Working Group, and in country workshops.
• Represent the mHealth Alliance at meetings, conferences, and events concerned with mHealth issues.
• Work with the Public Affairs team and Alliance team to ensure online branding and communications remain consistent and timely with offline messaging on websites and social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others.
• Work with mHealth community to design the mHealth Commons and promote open sharing and access to mHealth collateral such as mobile messaging, mHealth applications, training materials, and research.
• Work with mHealth Alliance team and Public Affairs team to manage relationships with online and web vendors.
• Monitor and analyze web and email metrics to enhance traffic and participation on virtual platforms.
• As needed, contribute content for communications materials related to HUB and mHealth community mobilization such as media advisories, press releases, fact sheets, talking points, event briefings, and press releases.
• As needed, work with Alliance team to draft proposals for external funding for mHealth community mobilization activities, including HUB.
• Keep up-to-date on online communications, social media and web industry standards and trends.
• Other projects and duties as may be assigned.
Selection Criteria
• BS or BA required in communications, journalism, public relations, international relations, or a related field; with a minimum of 3-5 years in writing and organizing internet-related projects.
• Community management experience a plus.
• Experience maintaining and managing organizational social networking accounts in coordination with campaign online communications and strategy (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
• Strong spoken, analytical, and writing skills; superior writing ability in English a must.
• Organizational abilities in complex issues and environments; very strong skills working in coalition and teams – collaborator; diplomat; problem solver; relationship-builder; strong inter-personal skills.
• Ability to lead and grow a highly visible part of the organization.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work to meet deadlines with other team members with grace and effectiveness under pressure, and undertake independent problem solving.
• Ability to multitask in a very fast-paced, often rapidly-changing environment.
• Multi-cultural experience and willingness to travel (at least 10%).
• Self starter and fast learner.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Knowledge and prior use of HTML, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks, Microsoft Office.
• Preferred:
• Proficiency in CRM & CMS — Convio and Drupal highly preferable.
• Proficiency in the use of social media monitoring and analytics tools.
• Knowledge of video editing software such as Final Cut Pro.
• Familiarity with mobile health and mHealth stakeholders.
• Familiarity with mobile technology for development.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience. Actual salary will depend on qualifications and anticipated contribution to the Foundation.
UNF pays 100% of medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance premiums for its employees and 75% of medical and vision for employees' dependents.
