Job Description
Fintrac seeks Chief of Party candidates for USAID projects in East Africa focusing on agricultural inputs, staple crops, agricultural producers and producer organizations.
Responsibilities
The Chief of Party will:
· Provide technical and strategic leadership and in-country management of the project.
· Serve as the primary point of contact with USAID, host government officials, and other international stakeholders with regard to day-to-day implementation and management matters relating to the contract.
· Oversee long-term expatriate and local staff and short-term experts.
· Provide technical support in all program areas to team as needed.
- Develop work plans for project activities.
- Oversee project financial and administrative operations.
- Ensure compliance with all USAID and Fintrac rules and regulations.
- Assure accurate and timely reporting to USAID.
- Oversee all financial and administrative matters.
- Oversee development and implementation of Monitoring and Evaluating Plan.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in agriculture, international development, or other relevant field.
- Ten years’ experience implementing agriculture programs overseas.
- Five years’ experience managing complex agriculture and food security programs in developing countries.
- Experience as COP/DCOP on USAID-funded projects strongly preferred, as is experience in Africa.
- Private sector agriculture experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of USAID planning and reporting systems, operations, programming, and structure;
- Demonstrated ability to work and coordinate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including national and local government, donors, community-based organizations, think tanks and universities, and the private sector.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
