The United Nations University (UNU) is the academic arm of the United Nations system. Its mission is to contribute through collaborative research and postgraduate education, dissemination of knowledge and advisory services, to efforts to resolve the pressing global problems of human survival, development and welfare that are the concern of the United Nations, its Peoples and Member States. UNU-INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR GLOBAL HEALTH (UNU-IIGH)

(DUTY STATION: KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA)

The UNU-IIGH Director serves as the Chief Academic and Administrative Officer of the Institute and has overall responsibility for the direction, organization, administration and programmes of the Institute, under the direction of the Rector of the UNU.

Qualifications: a Doctorate in the field of Health Systems and Policies, Public Health, Epidemiology or other health related discipline with high impact publications in nationally and internationally recognized journals or books edited by internationally recognized publisher. Associate or Full Professorship or equivalent appointment at an academic institution.

Experience: Broad knowledge in the field of Public Health with proven experience in promoting successful PhD theses. Has postgraduate teaching experience and didactical qualities.

CLOSING DATE: 31 MARCH 2012

The successful candidate will have at least 10 years of management experience, ideally in a leadership role within an academic institution or international organization. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills with fluency in English and at least one other official language of the United Nations.
