Our Buzwagi Mine based in Tanzania require a suitably qualified and experienced Vehicle and Services Foreman who will be responsible for providing supervision, maintenance, repair, support and training on ABG owned vehicles, cranes, machinery and plant.
This position will report to the Mobile Equipment General Foreman and is worked on a FIFO roster 6/3 weeks.
KEY RESULT AREAS / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide team leadership to develop a working environment that ensures employees achieve full potential.
- QA & Support Services, to ensure the needs of the Buzwagi mine are met.
- Ensure that principle deliverables are achieved in a timely, high quality and cost effective maintenance and repair program as well as well as control of driver for busses, Light vehicles and operators of small plant that report to LV workshop
- Facilitate effective mentoring and personal development programs for high potential employees.
- Setting up and administer of a timely monitoring and control of suitable maintenance schedule and costs, to ensure budget compliance. Act with a sense of urgency, to correct unfavorable cost and schedule variances.
- Implement employee performance management processes to ensure optimum employee performance. Initiate appropriate action to remedy substandard employee performance or behaviour.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe and zero risk manner.
- Provide systematic, continuous review of every aspect of department activity to ensure that opportunities to add value are identified and implemented.
- Contribute to the Buzwagi management team, to ensure that targets in respect of employee productivity, safe work, cost management and corporate governance are achieved and the Barrick Core Values are demonstrated.
- Set up and manage a succession plan for Tanzanian high potential employees within the LV workshop.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Education Requirements:
- Mechanics trade qualification Diesel and petrol driven
Experience Requirements:
- 10 years post qualification experience in maintenance of Light and heavy machinery and plant with at least 5 years in a senior maintenance and supervisory position
- Demonstrated experience in supervisory and implementation of maintenance and cost control functions.
- Working experience in Africa or a developing country that requires systematic continuous coaching and training of employees would be advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of mine safety regulations and best practice.
