This position works closely with and reports to the HIV prevention team lead.The Program Assistant will coordinate and facilitate the implementation of evidence based interventions for MARPs. They will also ensure appropriate referrals are done to ensure integration of behavioural interventions with biomedical and structural HIV prevention interventions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Program and M&E Aspects:
- Undertake EBI facilitation and training activities for community EBI facilitators
- Mobilize and recruit peer educators and mobilizers for trainings and implementation
- Train Peer Educators using approved curriculums
- Provide mentorship to Health Educators and mobilizers
- Conduct peer education and planned outreaches for sex workers, truckers and other transporters in South Rift
- Liaise with biomedical team to provide combined prevention during outreaches.
- Develop and maintain a referral network for services for MARPs
- Assist the HIV prevention team lead in the Provision of regular follow-up and supervisory support to ensure quality of project activities
- Assist in overseeing the strict adherence to recommended processes in EBI implementation including documentation of successes, challenges and lessons learned from the roll-out process. This will include the process of integrating services from different components.
- Assist in reviewing the routine monitoring and evaluation data from the program and make recommendations for program improvement.
- Compiling accurate narrative and activity reports from the field (including best practices) and submit them to the Project Officer according to the set deadlines.
- Maintain an efficient filing system and database of MARPs served by the project.
- Provide monthly, quarterly and annual work plan to facilitate budgeting
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum required academic and professional skills for the jobholder to perform successfully in this position include:
- Diploma in social science, community development , counseling or its equivalent from a recognized institution
- Training of trainer’s certificate
- At least 2 years’ experience working in a community based program
- Good oral and written communication skills (English and Swahili)
- Computer literacy in the use of MS Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is desired
- Ability to work and deliver results with minimum supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team player.
