Head of Project (m/f) "Integrated farming and water management project in the Inhambane province" in Mozambique
The post is to be held between 1st January 2012 and 31st December 2012. The post is to be carried out in the districts of Vilanculos, Inhassoro and Mabote.
We would like to supplement our team in Mozambique with a well-qualified non-local member of staff (m/f) with many years of experience. The rural population living in the areas prone to catastrophe are to be given reliable access to clean drinking water. The diversification of the food supply at schools in order to improve nutritional and physiological quality is to be guaranteed by cultivation in the school gardens.
The project activities include growing medicinal plants and vegetables with several social groups, and complementary measures to combat general illness and malnutrition.
Objectives and responsibilities of the position
As Head of Project "Integrated farming and water management project", you are responsible for implementing and coordinating the activities of Welthungerhilfe in line with the framework and financial requirements provided.
Your most important duties are as follows:
representing Welthungerhilfe and discussing the project concept and planned project activities with the local decision-makers and other aid and development organisations operating in the project area. identifying, testing and developing new project ideas ensuring the proper planning of financial and material resources managing and instructing dispatched and national project staff ensuring the necessary flow of information and the transparency of the project work with regard to the public in the country in question
Your qualifications include:
a project-relevant university or polytechnic degree in the field of water management and/or agriculture or a comparable professional training suitable for the post in question with several years of professional experience project and leadership experience within co-financed emergency aid projects run by international (aid) organisations, preferably in the region coordination and organisational skills, even under difficult local conditions very good spoken and written command of English and Portuguese
